DOMIC Die Plate Core Advantages
PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), commonly known as acrylic or plexiglass, is widely used as an alternative material to glass in building materials, medical devices and transparent materials. PMMA has a light transmission rate of 92%, which is higher than that of glass. Therefore, in the PMMA pelletizing process, the finish and light transmittance of the particles are very important and determine the quality of the final product.
DOMIC pelletizing die plate, with more than 20 years of design experience, through the Fluent optimization design scheme, the innovative use of WC material as a granulation belt, to achieve:
PMMA melt pressure distribution uniformity of 96% or more

Pain Point Description
Plug hole: PMMA melt viscosity is very high, in the mold hole in the cold speed is not uniform, will cause the front end of the material temperature is reduced after solidification and then clogging.
Mold hole inlet cone chamfer is easy to form turbulence, resulting in pressure fluctuations. Traditional granulation template flow channel design is easy to form a dead zone, residual material accumulation and solidification, blocking the mold hole.
Cooling water infiltration: PMMA industry seepage rate > 0.5%, when the melt pressure fluctuations seal failure, cooling water backflow, particle surface bubbles.


The Solution
We have 80+ sets of PMMA fluid data models, through the melt flow simulation software Moldflow and Fluent, simulate the flow of fluid in the pelletizing system, optimize the design parameters of the die holes, the goal: no dead zone of flow, to ensure that the melt reaches the die holes uniformly, the die holes are not disturbed by each other, and stabilize the extrusion pressure.
The parameters are described as follows:
Hole diameter: 2~4mm
L/D ratio: 10~12
Hole spacing: 1.3~1.6 times the hole diameter
Mold hole entrance: chamfer 30~45°
Distribution: Honeycomb symmetry
DOMIC uses 5-axis CNC machinery to ensure the positioning accuracy of ±2μm. the production is equipped with laser hole measuring equipment to calibrate the tool wear after processing 20 holes. The inner wall of the mold hole uses quicksand polishing process to ensure the roughness Ra≤0.4μm.
